UNICO is the largest Italian-American service
organization in the United States. The organization's objectives are
to promote the image of Italian Americans, serve the community and
contribute to charitable, cultural and educational organizations and
projects.
The Kansas City Chapter of UNICO was chartered in 1949 and, over
the past 60 years, has raised and donated thousands of dollars
annually to support organizations and individuals in the Kansas City
area. Donations from the annual fish fry support the Italian
language courses offered at St. Andrew School. And proceeds from all
the other major events sponsored by UNICO go to the college
scholarship program, offering assistance to help promising high
school students continue their education and realize their civic
potential. These events include the annual Festa Italiana,
UNICO
Microbrew Festival and other UNICO sponsored events.
This chapter takes great pride in its history, heritage and
outstanding individual membership. It has produced three national
presidents. It has provided category winners for every national
award sponsored by UNICO National and most importantly has earned it
place in our community for service to others and charitable
contributions since its inception in 1949.
The UNICO motto is "Service Above Self." The entire chapter
membership is committed to giving a hand up and helping people in
need.
The Kansas City Chapter of UNICO National is a not-for profit under
501(c)(3). Every dollar generated by UNICO events supports its
charitable endeavors. |
